Early Years - Ages 3–5

Pre-Kindergarten 1 & 2 | Ages 3–5

The Early Years at Verdala International School serve children aged 3 to 5 in Pre-Kindergarten 1 (PK1) and Pre-Kindergarten 2 (PK2). Children are eligible to enrol if they turn 3 or 4 years old by August 31 in the year they begin school.

Our Early Years programme provides a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young children feel safe, curious, and confident as learners. These formative years focus on building strong foundations for learning, wellbeing, independence, and positive relationships.

Verdala International School is an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school, with the PYP beginning in the Early Years and continuing through Kindergarten to Grade 5. Learning is play-based, inquiry-led, and developmentally appropriate, reflecting international best practice in early childhood education.

Children learn through a balanced combination of child-initiated play, guided inquiry experiences, and purposeful teacher-designed learning. Learning experiences are shaped by children’s interests, questions, and natural curiosity, allowing them to explore ideas deeply and meaningfully while developing confidence and independence.

The programme supports the whole child, nurturing development across social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language domains. Play is essential to learning and supports imagination, problem-solving, resilience, and expressive thinking.

Strong partnerships with families are central to the Early Years experience. We value open communication and collaboration, encouraging families to engage with classroom learning, school events, and the wider VIS community.
