Elementary School - Ages 5–11
Kindergarten–Grade 5 | Ages 5–11
The Elementary School at Verdala International School serves students from Kindergarten through Grade 5, supporting children through a pivotal stage of development marked by academic, social, emotional, and personal growth.
These years lay the foundation for lifelong learning. At VIS, we are committed to creating a safe, caring, and inclusive environment where every child is known, valued, and supported. Through engaging, purposeful learning experiences, students develop strong academic foundations, positive learning dispositions, and the confidence to take ownership of their learning.
Verdala International School is an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school, working toward authorisation in Fall 2026. Our Elementary programme is aligned with the PYP framework and philosophy, offering an inquiry-based, concept-driven, and transdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning.
The PYP spans Kindergarten through Grade 5, ensuring continuity across subjects, skill development, and language learning. Students engage in units of inquiry that connect classroom learning to real-world contexts. Through inquiry, children are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, think critically and creatively, and develop deep conceptual understanding.
Equal emphasis is placed on literacy and numeracy foundations, social-emotional development, and the transferable skills that prepare children for future learning. Teaching is informed by educational research and ongoing assessment so that learning experiences are intentional, responsive, and appropriately challenging for each child.
The PYP provides a coherent framework for how children learn and grow. It reflects our commitment to developing curious, confident, and compassionate learners. As an IB PYP candidate school, VIS engages in continuous reflection, professional learning, and programme development to ensure our practice aligns with international standards.
Partnership with families is central to our approach. We value open communication and encourage parents to participate in school events, workshops, and learning celebrations.
