Our Early Years (PK-1 and PK-2) classes are for children who are 3 and 4 years old
by August 31st in the year they enroll. As of September 2018, we introduced the
International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) to our Early Years, a curriculum well aligned
with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) which is taught at VIS from Kindergarten to
Grade 5.

IEYC focuses on the holistic development of our little ones and sets them off on a learning
journey. This curriculum entails a balance of teacher led activities and child initiated play.
The units are matched to the interests of this age group and cover all aspects of personal,
social and emotional development. Through these units, the children also explore numeracy
and literacy, focusing on:

•  developing vocabulary through the relevant themes
•  pre-literacy skills
•  basic numeracy skills
•  development of fine and gross motor skills through creative arts and other hands-on  activities
•  imaginative and Small World Play
•  role play
